The Great Jazz at Fiumicino
Passengers will be protagonists in the concerts which will be held throughout the summer

The new cultural entertainment initiative, conceived by Aeroporti di Roma, in collaboration with Fondazione Musica per Roma, is being launched for travellers coming through the Leonardo da Vinci airport. The sound of the New Talents Jazz Ensemble sextet, the new orchestra hosted by the Auditorium Parco della Musica, will entertain airport passenger

s until September. In the new Boarding area E for international and extra Schengen flights and later at the piano in the B departure area, with double bass, trumpets and saxophones, the musicians performed today for the first time and for an original audience, playing renditions of songs by three famous composers: Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington and Paolo Conte, directed by Mario Corvini, highly renowned jazz musician.

From September, on the other hand, to entertain families and children, Giocajazz shows will be set up in the airport, curated by Massimo Nunzi. The purpose of this project is to involve the younger members of the audience, exposing them to jazz through playful and fun entertainment. For the Leonardo da Vinci public, the initiative will be enriched by the “Giocajazz Dixieland Brass Band”, a fun and original formation inspired by the marching bands that teemed through the streets of New Orleans at the turn of the last century. Original music composed by Nunzi and arranged ad hoc for the orchestra will be performed, providing travellers with an itinerant musical show throughout the airport, dressed in brass band uniforms.

This is the first time that the international jazz sound has been performed in an Italian airport. This type of entertainment has by now become one of the distinctive traits of the Fiumicino airport, which has made hospitality one of its primary objectives, under the sign of high quality. Shows, musical performances, excellent cuisine, the best "Made in Italy" brands and international fashion all contribute to making the wait for a flight a pleasant and fun experience, transforming a layover into a relaxing time that characterizes the Leonardo da Vinci experience with the best of our national cultural and artistic heritage.
