Safety Reporting

In accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 376/2014, Article 2 – Definitions, an "occurrence" means:

“Any safety-related event which endangers or which, if not corrected or addressed, could endanger an aircraft, its occupants or any other person, and includes in particular an accident or serious incident.”

The Reporting System enables the monitoring of aeronautical occurrences that take place during airport operations. Every aeronautical occurrence contains elements which, if properly identified and investigated, may provide the basis for implementing corrective actions to prevent the occurrence from happening again in the future.

Aeroporti di Roma encourages all airport operators to participate in its reporting system. Everyone is required to report any occurrence that may affect the safety of airport operations by completing the Ground Safety Report (GSR).

The Ground Safety Report (GSR) may and should include all the information useful for the correct classification of the occurrence. If some information is unavailable, the report is still considered acceptable: the objective is to provide as many details as possible to enable a more effective analysis of the occurrence.

The principle "When in doubt, report" applies.

In accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 376/2014, every report is treated confidentially and is used solely for the continuous improvement of our operations in accordance with the principles of Just Culture.

No information contained in the report may:

  • be used to attribute blame or liability to personnel or any other person for actions, omissions or decisions taken in accordance with their experience and training;
  • be used for any purpose other than maintaining or improving Safety levels.

The Ground Safety Report may also be submitted anonymously. Where personal data are provided, they are processed in accordance with the applicable legislation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 – GDPR). A complete privacy notice is available upon request by emailing sms-cia@adr.it.

Alternatively, the form can be downloaded in Italian (available in both Excel and PDF formats) and submitted by email to sms-cia@adr.it.

Safety Notices are issued to disseminate information regarding occurrences or hazardous conditions identified at Rome Ciampino Airport, with the aim of preventing their recurrence.
