Rome Fiumicino airport is the Best in the World for airport security
The recognition was awarded by Skytrax at the “World Airport Awards 2024”
The excellence of Rome Fiumicino airport gets once again international recognition, as "Leonardo da Vinci" airport just received the World's Best Airport Security Processing award by Skytrax, the leading global air transport rating organisation, during the World Airport Awards 2024.

Fiumicino airport, managed by Aeroporti di Roma, a Mundys Group’s company, obtained Skytrax’s recognition thanks to its constantly increasing attention to the various aspects of airport security, in continuous coordination with the police forces, considered by the rating organization in the evaluation phase – i.e., controls, waiting times, queue monitoring systems, fast tracks and priority lanes, technologies used, courtesy and efficiency of airport staff.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, said: “Rome Fiumicino Airport has invested significantly in technologies and services with the aim of making sure that passengers have an efficient and safe travel experience. We are delighted that it has been recognised as the airport with the best airport security processes for travelers around the world.”

The World Airport Awards, regarded as the most prestigious international awards in the aviation sector, are assigned based on a survey through which, every year, passengers can rank their airport experience, evaluating a vast range of airport services and infrastructures – from check-in to arrivals, from shopping to security and departures, in over 550 airports around the world.

Marco Stramaccioni, Managing Director of ADR Security, received the award during the ceremony, held in the context of the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, Germany: "We are very proud of this award, which recognises the great investments that Aeroporti di Roma has made in recent years in the field of safety, thanks to the great job of our people and to the valuable support of the most sophisticated technologies, both at Fiumicino and Ciampino airports. This recognition underlines our commitment to the daily improvement of our services and infrastructures, aimed at providing the millions of passengers who transit by Rome with a travel experience to remember. Our mission to outline the airport of the future also lies in the promotion and implementation of safety in all its aspects.”
