ADR: A RED SUITCASE REPRESENT THE SYMBOL FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ERADICATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.
THE 'PUNTI VIOLA' PROJECT STARTS AT THE AIRPORT
Fiumicino, 24 November 2023 - "On 25 November #RedSuitcase is for everyone!". Through its social networks, Aeroporti di Roma launched its campaign in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a unanimous invitation extended to passengers and air transport personnel. A symbol of freedom, autonomy and emancipation that goes hand in hand with ADR's determination to implement concrete actions.

"Working on culture, on civic awareness, on equality has a great value and on this we base the initiatives that we launch inside and outside the airport towards our people, passengers, and the population that revolves around our reality," says Marco Troncone, managing director of Aeroporti di Roma, a company of the Mundys Group that manages Rome's 'G.B.  Pastine' Ciampino and 'Leonardo da Vinci' Fiumicino airports. " As we work to change the culture, however, the one thing that needs to be done in the present is to offer immediate help to women in need. It would be a huge step forward if each and every organisation, in its small community, could do this. As an airport manager with more than 4,000 employees who daily impact on a community of about 50,000 people working in our airports, in on one of the largest territorial areas in Italy, we feel a strong responsibility to implement concrete actions and hence the decision to make our airports Punti Viola (businesses trained and sensitised on violence and safety in the street, where any woman who is a victim of gender-based abuse can seek help and find a safe place of refuge in case of danger): through specific training of airport staff on harassment and gender violence, carried out together with the 'DONNEXSTRADA' Association, we will ensure that women in difficulty and in search of help are given a first aid point, support and welcome in our airports'.

As part of Aeroporti di Roma's projects, it is about to start a collaboration with 'TuttexUna', an association founded at Fiumicino with the aim of supporting, welcoming and guiding women who are victims of abuse, physical and psychological violence, sexual violence and other forms of abuse, and which involves Aeroporti di Roma financing a number of listening desks in the area. It will include the installation of one of the benches against violence that make up the project for the Fiumicino area of Mayor Federica Cerulli.
This commitment is part of a broader process involving staff, partners, institutions and local communities and has resulted in active collaborations in support of organisations and associations active in the fight against gender-based violence. The committement is real: starting from the participation in the 'Dis-crimen Dis-criminis' project to raise students' awareness on equality and discrimination issues; to supporting the #WomenforWomenAgainstViolence 'Camomilla Award', displayed on the monitors of Rome Fiumicino airport over the last month, to sponsoring the 31st edition of BestWoman, a Fidal race scheduled for the next 3 December in Fiumicino, organised by ASD Atletica Villa Guglielmi.

Aeroporti di Roma, an Mundys Group company, manages and develops the Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino airports and carries out other activities related and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino, the first and only airport in Italy with a Skytrax rating of 5 stars for excellent standards in service quality, has two passenger terminals and is dedicated to business and leisure customers on domestic, international and intercontinental routes; Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, express-couriers and General Aviation activities In 2019, ADR recorded 49.4 million passengers as an airport system.
