Fiumicino, 8 November 2018 – A day of music and fun at Leonardo da Vinci Airport, which today hosted two opera performances as part of Airport Opera Live, the cycle of exhibitions organised by Aeroporti di Roma in partnership with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
The Coro di Voci Bianche choir, made up of sixty children from the Scuola di Canto Corale, entertained passengers departing from Boarding Area E for international flights and travellers to domestic and European destinations at Boarding Area B, with a double concert lasting twenty minutes each, signing “Concert in the Chicken Coop” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “Bestial Counterpoint” by Adriano Banchieri and “Gospel Magnificat” by Robert Ray, directed by Alberto De Sanctis.
Many travellers, impressed by the vocal qualities of the young performers, stopped to capture the exhibition. The event is one of the many initiatives with which Aeroporti di Roma proposes to improve the quality of time spent by passengers at the airport, where previews are held of the major shows scheduled in the Capital.
Aeroporti di Roma, Company of the Atlantia Group, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and undertakes other activities relating to and supplementing airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2017, the ADR airport system registered 46.9 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. According to Skytrax official certification, in 2017 Fiumicino was the world’s number one airport for improvements and developments to its services. This awards adds to the award granted to the airport by Airport Council International as the most appreciated airport in Europe by passengers and to the “Best Airport Award” 2018 given to the Rome airport during the annual assembly of Airport Council International.
