Fiumicino, 7 March 2018 – Passengers of Leonardo da Vinci Airport enjoyed a special surprise this morning, as many found themselves involved in a contemporary dance performance between one gate and the next. 18 professional dancers performed in amongst the travellers in the first-ever preview of the ‘Mediterranea’ show in Rome, which will be staged on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March at Rome’s Teatro Olimpico, and will be repeated on 14th July at Ostia Antica’s Roman Theatre.
Boarding areas B and E were transformed into the perfect location for a preview of an exceptional artistic performance that entertained the international tourists passing through the airport, which serves as a hub for connections from and to the Mediterranean.
The dance performed in the terminals represented the close relationship, but also the contrast, between the land and the sea, typical of the area where Leonardo da Vinci is located. The show presented to the passengers featured dancers performing an evocative choreography, intended to mimic the continuous movement of the waves, with energetic dance steps alternating with more lyrical sections.
The flash mob organised in the lounges of Boarding Area E and B confirms Aeroporti di Roma’s commitment to offer an experience of the highest quality to its passengers, highlighting the examples of artistic excellence found in the area and presenting the airport as a showcase of the main cultural initiatives on offer in the capital.
Aeroporti di Roma, Company of the Atlantia Group, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and undertakes other activities relating to and supplementing airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2017, the ADR airport system registered over 46.9 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports.
