Fiumicino, 7 July 2017 – The new “Rome Airports” App is available from today, on all major app stores. This highly innovative tool is designed and built to accompany passengers during all stages of their journeys to and from Rome.

A real “airport assistant”, which provides the airport services most requested by passengers in the palm of your hand, starting from the planning stages of your trip.

Various innovative services contained in the App, including virtual navigation through the Terminal, (including product search, shopping and offers) real-time monitoring of all stages of the flight, booking and paying for parking, bus and train times to and from the airport and unlimited super-fact Wi-Fi connection. More specifically:

- Virtual Navigator. Thanks to a capillary network of sensors located throughout the airport, you can locate your position and search for your desired destination (gate, check-in desk, commercial activities, parking, etc). An advanced navigation system will accompany passengers along the entire route, pointing out useful services and making it much easier and faster to move around inside the airport. The same platform also enables you to find, in real time, the products you want to buy at Fiumicino. Each of the 200 plus shops and restaurants at Leonardo da Vinci feature on the App, with their offers and promotions constantly updated, which can be communicated to travellers based on their interests or according to the area they are in. This is the first time an “indoor” navigation system of its kind has been activated in an Italian airport.

- Flight Tracking. Once you enter a specific flight code (even simply photographing the QR Code on your boarding pass), the App constantly updates passengers on all operational details, informing them when boarding starts. In this way, you can manage the various stages of your trip and your time spent at the airport very easily and without any stress.

- Booking and Paying for Parking. For those travelling to the airport in their own car, you can check the traffic conditions at the main junctions in Rome and, with a single click, you can book the car park machine within the official ADR Easy Parking car parks, located just a few meters away from the Terminals, at the most economic rates. The booking can also be made by entering the code on your Telepass device.

With “Rome Airports” you can always check the main means of public transport connecting the airport with Roma and many other destinations, by following real-time bus and train timetables (and purchasing bus and train tickets, thanks to our partnership with Trenitalia). Very useful and detailed information on prices and on conditions for use are also provided for those choosing to travel by taxi.

- Super-Fast Wi-Fi. Once you download the App, you can connect to the super-fast, free Aeroporti di Roma Wi-Fi, with unlimited browsing time and up to 4 Mbps of data. The connection also lets you make video calls, download large files and watch streamed films, among other things.

“Rome Airports” is currently available in four languages: Italian, English, Chinese and Russian. The platform has also been designed as a service for welcoming and encouraging the inflow of foreign travellers to Rome. For this precise reason, a marketing campaign will be launched on the main social channels in major markets for the capital, such as China, the USA, Russia and, of course, Italy. The campaign will also be featured on the media channels of ADR’s important partners, such as Alitalia, Thai, FS and others, which will be added over the coming weeks.

App Day will be held in Fiumicino today, a day of flashmobs and events aimed at presenting the App to travellers. Italian can also enter a competition to win a Nissan Leaf electric car.

The “Rome Airports” App is part of a strategy for welcoming and attending to passengers, implemented by Aeroporti di Roma. In the official classification of the Airport Council International, Fiumicino is the European hub most appreciated by passengers, due to the quality of services provided.

Aeroporti di Roma, an Atlantia Group company, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and carries out other activities related and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure customers on national, international and intercontinental routes; Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, express couriers and for General Aviation activities. In 2016, ADR recorded, as an airport system, over 47 million passengers with over 230 destinations worldwide that can be reached from Rome, thanks to around 150 airlines operating at the two airports.
