CONGRATULATIONS TO THE COMPANY: PUNCTUALITY AZ A RESULT OF A COMBINED EFFORT AT FCO
DA VINCI ONE OF THE MOST EFFICIENT AIRPORTS IN EUROPE, ACCORDING TO EUROCONTROL

Fiumicino, 11 May 2018 –  Congratulations to Alitalia for its excellent punctuality levels reported by FlightStats. These results are the outcome of a major commitment implemented by the airline, as well as the joint work to fully review all aviation processes which, with the coordination of ADR, involves ENAV, ENAC, handling companies and state bodies operating at Fiumicino national airport.

Within three years, this major system effort has transformed Leonardo da Vinci into one of the most efficient and punctual airports in Europe, as certified by the quality awards granted by Airport Council International and Skytrax and by a formal recognition recently sent to ADR by Eurocontrol. According to the intergovernmental agency responsible for air traffic in the skies of Europe, in the first few months of 2018, the percentage of flights departing on time from Fiumicino amounted to 83%, compared with an average of 76% from the 25 main European airports.

Thanks to the collaboration of players in the sector, it has been possible to maximise the use of the airspace, making the airport's capacity fully efficient. International best practices have been adopted and the best technologies available on the market for controlling aircraft movement have been introduced. Operational handling processes have been substantially reformed, with positive effects on the logistics of passenger and baggage management. The continuous improvement of all Terminal activities has also supported the punctuality record. Operational improvement activities will continue, with a planning of interventions that will enable the achievement of further results.

Aeroporti di Roma, Company of the Atlantia Group, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and undertakes other activities relating to and supplementing airport management. Fiumicino operates through three passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes; Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2017, the ADR airport system registered over 46.9 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. In 2017, according to the official Skytrax certification, Fiumicino has improved and upgraded its services more than any other airport in the world. This recognition is added to the award granted to it by Airport Council International as the most appreciated airport in Europe by passengers.
