Fiumicino, 8th June 2016 - The initiatives undertaken by Aeroporti di Roma to offer travellers high-quality services and entertainment opportunities within the main Italian airport continue. From today - and for the entire duration of the 2016 European Championships- Leonardo da Vinci will provide six football tables for passengers to use, both arriving at and departing from the main Italian airport.
Giving his backing to the initiative was the coach of the national under-21 football team, Luigi Di Biagio, who today "kicked-off" the event by challenging some travellers just before they took a flight.
Until the 10th of August, passengers, especially younger ones, will therefore be able to have fun playing table football during their brief stay at the airport.
There will also be a packed timetable of events with professional players from the Federazione Italiana Calciobalilla (FICB-Italian Table Football Federation) who will take part in training courses, tutorials and matches with passengers, shared on the Aeroporti di Roma's social media channels. The techniques, history and official rules of table football will be unveiled to travellers in transit through the capital's airports, in order to experience the excitement of EURO 2016 in an original and different way.
At Fiumicino, tables are available in the baggage reclaim areas of Terminals 1 and 3 and at boarding areas of gates B and C; at Ciampino, it is located in the baggage reclaim area.
#Airportmatch is part of the extensive cultural and entertainment programme for passengers launched by Aeroporti di Roma. The results achieved by the management company in terms of improvements in quality have recently been recognised by the independent monitoring of ACI (Airports Council International), which has awarded the Roman hub its best ever result.
Aeroporti di Roma, part of the Atlantia Group, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and performs other activities related and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure customers for domestic, international and intercontinental flights; Ciampino is mainly used by low cost airlines, express couriers and for General Aviation activities. In 2015, ADR (Aeroporti di Roma) recorded, as an airport system, more than 46 million passengers with 240 destinations worldwide reachable from Rome thanks to about 100 airlines operating from the two airports.
