Airside Safety Course
As of 19 September 2016, for the issuance/renewal of a red or green ID card, participation in the Airside Safety course is mandatory for all airport operators.
The courses shall be available, as specified below, as of 1 September 2016.
As part of the process for adapting to the requirements of Regulation (EU) of the European Commission no. 139/2014 on airports, with specific reference to the staff Safety Training aspects, a basic course has been prepared entitled “Airside Safety”.
The course is aimed at all airport staff authorised to access the airside area, that is, those in possession, exclusively, of a RED or GREEN airport entry ID card.
The aim of the course, in line with the legislative requirements of Regulation 139/14 and its supporting EASA documentation, is to raise awareness amongst all operators of the risks resulting from the circulation of vehicles within the airport's airside areas.

- Aircraft features
- The main airside risks
- Operational Safety with aircraft taxiways (apron)
- Operational Safety in the manoeuvring area
- The Safety Management System
- Safety Promotion and Safety Notices
The course, which lasts approximately 2 hours, can be provided free of charge as follows:
- E-Learning (self–training) Mode
For those who have a personal computer and email address.
To enrol on the course, an email must be sent to formazionesicurezza@adr.it, with the subject “Airside Safety Course”, attaching the following file which must specify participants’ surname, name, company and personal email address.

Within 48 hours, each user will receive an email confirming enrolment, with the credentials and instructions to access the platform.
The E-Learning course may even be held at different periods and times, as the platform will be capable of tracking training progress.
At the end of the training course, the platform will offer a short learning test. After successfully completing the test, “CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE” must be clicked, in order to create and print the certificate.
For any technical requirements, a help desk is available, the references of which are specified in the email containing the access credentials that will be sent to each user upon enrolment.
2. E-Learning Mode at the ADR Training Centre
For those who DO NOT have a personal computer.
ADR's Training Centre ensures, on Mondays and Fridays, with user registration at 09:00 and on Tuesday and Thursdays, with user registration at 13:30, the availability of its multimedia classroom in the building Torre Uffici [Office Block] EPUA 1, 3rd floor – room 327 (adjacent to the ADR ID Card Department Office), with tutorial assistance for accessing and using the system. To enrol on the course, in this mode, the following instructions must be followed:
A - Access credentials request, necessary to subsequently book the course:

B – Course Reservation:
only after receiving the credentials, an email must be sent to formazionesicurezza@adr.it, with the subject “Airside Safety Course – multimedia classroom course reservation”, confirming receipt of the credentials, specifying the date and time required and waiting for the booking confirmation.
To access office block EPUA 1, in order to get to the training classroom (room 327), it is necessary to show, at reception, a printout of the email confirming the course booking.
At the end of the training course, the platform will offer a short learning test. After successfully completing the test, “CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE” must be clicked, in order to create and print the certificate.
3. Classroom Mode
For those who do not have a computer and/or email address or who are unfamiliar with using computers.
ADR's Training Centre ensures, on Mondays and Fridays, at 14:00-16:00, the delivery of the course in a classroom by a qualified instructor. To enrol on the course it is necessary to send an email to formazionesicurezza@adr.it, with the subject “Airside Safety Course”, specifying the company, names of the participants, day and times chosen and wait for the confirmation of enrolment.
The course, whether it is held in E-Learning mode or in the classroom, is valid for five years, subject to the fact that, within 30 months following the issuance of the certificate, it will be necessary to carry out an interim proficiency test, the details for which shall be notified in a follow-up notification.
WARNING
As of 26 June 2017, a joint Airside Safety course for both airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino will be required, provided in the modes specified above. The related certificate issued at the end of the course will, therefore, be deemed valid for the purposes of requesting the issuance/renewal of a red or green airport ID card for both airports.
In the case of courses held in a classroom at Fiumicino airport or via e-learning mode, with a certificate issued on or before 25/06/2017, for the purposes of requesting an ID card for Ciampino airport, the certificate will still be deemed valid, with the individual’s commitment to acknowledge the paperwork that can be downloaded below:
