CONTINUUM’ (2026)

‘Continuum’ is a site-specific installation that challenges the boundaries of architecture, transforming the perception of the surrounding airport environment into a dynamic and constantly evolving experience. The work does not simply occupy the space: it moves through and reconfigures it, inviting the audience to follow its trajectories.

Michela Picchi’s visual language is expressed through interconnected lines and fields of colour that form an open system. Surfaces become active fields, crossed by connecting marks that generate a visual continuity, bringing structure and perception into dialogue.

In this vision, space ceases to be a stable frame and becomes more fluid. Colour is not decoration, but a tool that directs the eye and alters the experience of the place.

Engaging naturally with the experience of travel, Michela Picchi’s Mural. is located within OPEN – FCO Smart Workplace, the new office complex opposite Terminal 1 at Rome Fiumicino Airport, which was conceived as a hub for offices, services and workspaces linked to the airport ecosystem: hysical movement is mirrored in a visual journey shaped by directions, connections and openings, accompanying travellers as they move without interrupting their flow, becoming part of the rhythm of the space.

The result is an environment in which form and colour become experiential elements.

Michela Picchi is a Rome-based artist. Her practice spans art, design and contemporary visual culture. Her work is recognisable by its fluid marks, vibrant colours and references ranging from the digital realm to pop imagery. Her works, often shaped by their context, transform spaces into direct visual experiences designed to establish an immediate relationship with the public.
