Aeroporti di Roma's Summer 2023 kicks off with many novelties, necessary confirmations and attractive prospects, especially for North America and Asia.

The summer season that is about to begin, outlines a very positive overall scenario for the Roman market with the activation of more than 35 new air connections of which more than 10 to new destinations previously never served with direct flights even in the pre-Covid 2019 period, and a schedule that is gradually approaching pre-Covid levels with more than 100 airlines that will serve over 200 destinations to more than 70 countries, thus connecting all the world's continents to the Capital.

'The evolution of traffic over the current year releases a very positive outlook, albeit with risk factors related to the current economic and geopolitical context 2023 - stated Marco Troncone CEO of Aeroporti di Roma - but there are conditions for Fiumicino's traffic to return very close to pre-pandemic levels during the following summer season. 2023 could indeed be the year of the definitive recovery of traffic with the certainty for the two airports in the capital to continue to play a crucial role in the development of the economic chain linked to tourism and transport. The dynamism of the American market, the gradual opening of connections to Asia and the re-establishment of connectivity also towards strategic areas such as South America, Africa and the Middle East, in addition to the confirmation of flights to Australia by Qantas, confirm a trend of progressive growth in the offer, reinforcing Rome's role as a strategic gateway for the Country. Within this context, we will continue the investment plan with our strategic guidelines, sustainability and innovation, with the aim of preparing for the next international appointments that await the city of Rome and the country'.

Looking overseas, the real protagonist of next Summer for Rome's airports will be the North American market with a schedule that, in the peak months, will count 34 departures a day, 11 of which to New York alone. A record offer thanks to the new connections launched by ITA Airways and the developments of the American carriers, which, at an aggregate level, will reach several connections up by 50% compared to pre-pandemic. In this context, Leonardo da Vinci will position itself as the third European hub after London and Paris for the number of flights to the Big Apple and among the airports with the highest growth in flights to North America, including Canada.

Highlights include new connections to San Francisco, a new destination to be launched this Summer by ITA Airways and United Airlines, and flights to Mexico City thanks to Aeromexico's debut at the Roman airport. There are also many increases in the offer on destinations historically linked to the Capital: in the lead is New York which, among others, will also see the entry of Norse Atlantic Airways as a new player with a daily flight. ITA Airways will introduce a new direct flight to Washington in June, while the increased frequencies of Air Canada and Air Transat will make up to three daily flights to Toronto and Montreal available. WestJet will also invest in Roman connectivity by increasing the availability of flights

to Calgary, the only direct connection from Italy to Western Canada launched last year, offering up to five weekly frequencies.

South America is also expected to grow in connectivity with Aerolineas Argentinas, gradually increasing its connection to Leonardo da Vinci with five weekly flights to Buenos Aires.

Another big performer in the coming Summer will be the Asian market. In addition to the destinations available to Tokyo and Delhi, thanks to the increase in ITA Airways flights already started at the end of 2022, there will be a recovery of the Greater China airlines, with the resumption of flights to Beijing and Shanghai and the simultaneous increase in supply also to the already served cities of Chengdu, Hangzhou and Chongqing. Fiumicino will see around three flights daily to the People's Republic of China, in addition to re-establishing the direct connection to Taipei operated three times a week. Rome will also be connected up to twice a day with Seoul thanks to the developments of Korean Air and Asiana, and five times a week with Singapore on Singapore Airlines, which will reach its maximum offer on this route.

Still, regarding long-haul, it is worth highlighting the increase in Qatar Airways' offer, which, rising to 18 weekly frequencies, will offer up to 3 daily flights on certain days of the week, as well as that of Gulf Air which, which started in June 2022, continues to invest in Rome, adding a third weekly frequency to Manama in Bahrain.

The 2023 development framework is completed by the short-medium range, with attractive new international destinations that will enrich the city's offer directly connected with Rome: among these are Baku, Faro, Gdansk, Funchal, Memmingen, Castellon, and Bastia, thanks to the development of companies such as Volotea, Vueling, Air Corsica, Wizz Air, and Ryanair. The latter two, in particular, will increase the already significant offer introduced during 2022 to base 11 and 9 aircraft, respectively, at Fiumicino.

Therefore, many novelties are in a scenario expected to grow overall compared to the Summer of last year, as confirmed by the airlines' sales systems.
