Fiumicino, 29 July 2015 – With reference to today's statement by the CEO of Alitalia, Mr. Silvano Cassano, Aeroporti di Roma does not intend upon commenting the figures provided by Alitalia, nor on their validity with respect possible damages incurred due to the fire. Aeroporti di Roma also wishes to point out that the competent Prosecutor's Office is still investigating on the possible responsibilities for the event.
ADR deems it essential, instead, to highlight that an investment plan for 11 billion Euros is being implemented; this plan could be launched only in 2013, once the programme contract had been approved after over 10 years of inactivity due to the lack of such contract.
ADR also reminds that - after its inclusion in Atlantia Group - it had given a clear and visible impulse to service quality, testified by the fact that it surpassed other competing hubs such as Frankfurt, Madrid, and Paris in terms of perceived service quality, according to the official surveys carried out by Airport Council International, in spite of generally lower tariffs.
As for the reference to investments and finance, it is worth reminding that ADR has a very low debt and that it already possesses all the resources required to support the development of the airport and of Rome as a travel destination, without discriminations among the airlines operating on the market. Furthermore, ADR does not need further financing, nor new capitals, nor to distribute capital to its shareholders.
Finally, ADR reminds that, in the last three months, the growth of Rome's airport system has been of 5.6%, despite the effects of the fire, and that today Fiumicino airport is back to full and efficient operations, with daily peaks of over 140 thousand passengers (+ 7.3% in the last week).
Aeroporti di Roma, a company of Gruppo Atlantia, manages the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, and conducts other collateral activities for airport facility management. Fiumicino operates four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure flights to and from national, international and intercontinental destinations; Ciampino is mainly dedicated to low-cost airlines, express couriers and General Aviation activities. In 2014, ADR airports system recorded around 44 million passengers, with over 230 destinations that can be reached from Rome thanks to the 100 airline operating from the two airports.
