ADR: SOLIDARITY FOR ATTACKED PASSENGER
ADR expresses solidarity towards passenger attacked by taxi driver

Aeroporti di Roma is deeply disturbed by the attack carried out by a taxi driver on a passenger at Fiumicino airport and expresses full solidarity and support for the passenger who was the victim of this incredible and unjustifiable episode. The case is not at all representative of the behaviour of the thousands of taxi drivers who carry out their jobs in Rome and at the airport every day, in a courteous manner and in observance of rules and regulations.

Aeroporti di Roma is evaluating any and all legal actions that may be appropriate and agrees with the announcement made by the Mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, who asked for the taxi driver’s license to be revoked.

Aeroporti di Roma, an Atlantia Group Company, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and undertakes other activities relating and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino has two passenger terminals and is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2018, the ADR airport system registered 48.8 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. In 2019, the Airports Council International Europe awarded  Leonardo da Vinci with the “Best Airport 2018” award. For the second year in a row, Fiumicino confirmed its top-ranking status among the 20 European airports with more than 25 million passengers for quality of the services, technological innovation and efficiency of the infrastructures. This award is in addition to recognition by the Airports Council International World which, also in 2019 and for the second year in a row, awarded the Leonardo da Vinci with the “Airport Service Quality” award as the most popular airport in Europe with more than 40 million passengers. ADR’s management skills are also confirmed by the recognition received during 2019 from Skytrax, the major international rating and assessment company in the airport sector, which confirmed the Skytrax 4 stars earned by Fiumicino in 2017.
