ROME FIUMICINO AIRPORT IS THE BEST IN EUROPE FOR THE 7TH RUNNING, ACCORDING TO ACI WORLD
FIRST WIN ALSO FOR CIAMPINO ‘G.B. PASTINE’ AIRPORT AMONG EUROPEAN AIRPORTS WITH 5 TO 15 MILLION PASSENGERS A YEAR
Fiumicino, 11 March 2024 - For the seventh year running, Fiumicino 'Leonardo da Vinci' Airport has been declared best airport in Europe in the category of airports with over 40 million passengers, joined, for the first time, by Ciampino 'Giovan Battista Pastine’ Airport, awarded best airport in the 5 to 15 million passenger category.
The survey ‘Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award’ was conducted by the international trade association of airports worldwide, Airport Council International (ACI) World, in cooperation with Amadeus, a leading travel technology company.

ACI World analysed the preferences of around six hundred thousand passengers at over 400 airports worldwide based on more than 30 indicators related to the airport experience at departures and arrivals and, in addition to the ‘Best Airport’ award, also recognised Rome Fiumicino’s excellence in all the categories considered:

  • Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe;
  • Easiest Airport Journey in Europe;
  • Most Enjoyable Airport in Europe;
  • Cleanest Airport in Europe;

To date, only nine airports in the respective geographical areas have achieved levels of excellence in all categories considered by the ASQ Award, but these are airports with traffic of fewer than 15 million passengers a year. Rome Fiumicino is the only airport in the world with more than 40 million passengers per year to have achieved this result.

And 'Leonardo da Vinci' Airport is not the only airport managed by ADR to win an award. For the first time, Ciampino ‘Giovan Battista Pastine’ Airport took home the award for ‘best airport in Europe with between 5 and 15 million passengers.’

“Today's is a historic day for ADR: for the first time, Fiumicino and Ciampino airports are both recognised at an international level for the quality and services offered to passengers,” said Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, continuing: “‘Leonardo da Vinci’ winning best airport in Europe and the only major hub in the world to win in all categories considered by Airport Service Quality 2023 is an extraordinary achievement. And the milestone also reached by Ciampino ‘G.B. Pastine' Airport, winning 'Best Airport' in its category for the first time, is concrete proof that the difference is made by our people, as well as the method, daily commitment and immense passion that characterise our entire airport community. Once again, we consider these moments only as stages in an increasingly virtuous path of sustainable development for the region, for Rome and for the whole of Italy.”

“I am particularly proud to record these important new international results for our airports, in strong continuity with the growth trend of recent years, which includes the prestigious award obtained by Ciampino G.B. Pastine Airport. Indeed, it is also through its airports, and in particular the international airport of Fiumicino, that Rome has in recent years rebuilt the international position it so justly deserves: we can claim to be the most important gateway to Italy, and highly valued throughout the world,” commented ADR Chairman Vincenzo Nunziata.
