ADR: FROM DECEMBER FIUMICINO WILL BE EUROPE'S TOP AIRPORT BY NUMBER OF CHINESE CITIES REACHED
Seven Chinese destinations served by the Rome airport

Fiumicino, 28 October 2015 - From December the Leonardo da Vinci airport will be the top European airport, besides Charles De Gaulle in Paris, for the number of Chinese cities which can be reached using direct connections. This confirms Fiumicino as a leader of this market segment and Rome and its airport’s attractiveness for Far Eastern passengers.

Starting from December 9, a new route opens which connects Rome directly to Xi'an. Chinese private airline, Hainan Airlines will offer two flights per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The new connection will get direct flights from Rome to one of China’s most historical cities. Xi'an was one of the four ancient capitals of China and is famous for the Terracotta Army which is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The route will be operated using an Airbus A330 with 260 seats.

By December, the Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Wuhan will be also served by Rome, thanks to new flights of China Southern. Rome Fiumicino is the only airport in the EU that will welcome all major Chinese Airlines (Air China, China Eastern, China Southern and Hainan), Seven Chinese destinations will be directly connected to Rome. There are the existing destinations (Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai and Wenzhou) and now three from December will be added. Taiwan and Hong Kong have been served by the Rome Airport for some time.
