EASTER: AT ROME’S LEONARDO DA VINCI AIRPORT EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE OF MAESTRO PAPPANO FOR DEPARTING PASSENGERS
Easter: at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport extraordinary performance of Maestro Pappano for departing passengers.

Fiumicino, 7 April 2017 – The appointment is for Friday 14, at 11.30 am, in the setting of the new boarding area E - for Extra Schengen flights – and at Quay B, where passengers in transit will have the pleasant surprise of listening to Maestro Antonio Pappano, Principal Conductor of the Santa Cecilia National Academy Orchestra, in an extraordinary performance on one of the two pianos in the airport. And it is precisely with this out-of-the-ordinary appointment that the Leonardo da Vinci will be inaugurating the airport’s high-season traffic, during the first long weekend of Easter.  The Anglo-Italian conductor will be joined by another “high-ranking” musician, the cello player Luigi Piovano, first cello soloist of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra. They will be performing Due Romanze by Giuseppe Martucci, the Rondò of the Sonata for cello and piano op. 5 n.2 by Beethoven and Nicolaj Rimskij – Korsakov’s famous Flight of the Bumblebee for an unusual audience and on an unusual stage, with respect to a more normal concert hall. A musical moment which is part of the programme inaugurated in January and is the upshot of the partnership between Aeroporti di Roma and the Santa Cecilia National Academy. Every Thursday, the airport does in fact host the pupils of the JuniOrchestra and of the Cantoria dell’Accademia of Santa Cecilia, along with the special participations of the Orchestra Professors and Choir Artists, who play the pianos installed by ADR (in partnership with Ciampi) at the T1 – boarding area B – and at the T3 – boarding areas D and E – and T3 baggage drop-off

The partnership between ADR and the Santa Cecilia National Academy has been in operation for the past two years, with one-of-a-kind initiatives organized in Italy’s major airport and much appreciated by Leonardo da Vinci passengers.

Aeroporti di Roma, Company of the Atlantia Group, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and undertakes other activities relating and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes; Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express-couriers and for operations of the General Aviation. In 2016, the ADR airport system registered over 47 million passengers, with 230 destinations across the world reachable from Rome, thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports.
