ADR: CHRISTMAS CONCERT BY THE ARMA DEI CARABINIERI MUSICAL BAND WINS FIUMICINO AIRPORT PASSENGERS OVER
In Terminal 3, in the area dedicated to international flights, opera music and famous soundtracks accompany departing passengers

The traditional Christmas event returns to Fiumicino with concerts performed by law enforcement at the airport. This year, 102 musicians from the Arma dei Carabinieri band, popular all over the world for its varied repertoire, performed classical pieces and modern adaptations. Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra signalled the start of the performance and was followed by pieces dedicated to maestro Ennio Morricone, Christmas tradition with Jingle Bells, the Roman spirit with Arrivederci Roma, and concluded with the Italian National Anthem.

The success was overwhelming. Passengers were captivated by the atmosphere created in the unusual performance space, and were enthralled by the allure of the Arma’s magnificent uniform.

Aside from passengers and numerous guests, the performance was attended by Ugo de Carolis, Chief Executive Officer of ADR, General Carlo Magrassi, Councillor for Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Defence, and General Massimo Mennitti, Head of Arma External Relations.

Over the coming days, Christmas festivities at the capital’s airport will see additional entertainment initiatives to celebrate Christmas with airport passengers. In 2018, this welcoming strategy also confirmed Leonardo da Vinci airport's position at the top of the international rankings for the quality of its offered services.

Aeroporti di Roma, an Atlantia Group company, manages and develops the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports in Rome and performs other activities related and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino operates through three passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2017, the ADR airport system registered 46.9 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. According to Skytrax official certification, in 2017 Fiumicino was the world’s number one airport for improvements and developments to its services. This award adds to the award granted to the airport by the Airports Council International as the most appreciated airport in Europe by passengers, and to the “Best Airport Award” 2018 given to the Rome airport during the annual assembly of Airports Council International.
