ADR: THIS YEAR’S ROME CINEMA FESTIVAL BEGINS AT FIUMICINO ONCE MORE
Airport initiatives organised to present a celebration of cinema in the capital for passengers’ entertainment

Fiumicino, 19 October 2018 – The airport will become a showcase for cinema in the Italian capital - all thanks to the partnership between Aeroporti di Roma and the Fondazione Cinema per Roma. A movie theatre installation in Boarding Area B will show a short film featuring the most famous and exciting scenes from films shot in airports all over the world.

The short film was created by students from Roma Tre University and the DAMS Institute of Rome as part of a project coordinated by the Faculty of Cinema, Television and Photography. The final result will be shown in the unusual movie theatre set up in the airport for the enjoyment of Fiumicino’s passengers. Aeroporti di Roma has also made two posts available to greet artists arriving at Leonardo da Vinci, in the arrival areas of Terminals 1 and 3, manned by festival staff to give them their first welcome to Italy's capital city.

This partnership also falls within the schedule of events created by Aeroporti di Roma to improve the quality of the time passengers spend in the airport. More and more, it is a cultural showcase for the main shows and artistic events held in the capital.

Aeroporti di Roma, Company of the Atlantia Group, manages and develops the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and undertakes other activities relating to and supplementing airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2017, the ADR airport system registered over 46.9 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. According to Skytrax official certification, in 2017 Fiumicino was the world’s number one airport for improvements and developments to its services. This recognition joins the award it was given by Airports Council International as the European airport most appreciated by passengers and the “Best Airport Award 2018” presented to the Roman airport during the Airports Council International’s Annual Assembly.
