Fiumicino, 27 June 2017 – ABBA’s music in Leonardo da Vinci’s Terminals, with the passengers involved as performers in different flashmobs for a preview of the new all-Italian version of the musical “Mamma Mia!”.
The Baggage Reclaim area in Terminal 3 and the new Boarding Area E of Fiumicino Airport were transformed today into a real stage. Actors, musicians and dancers performed the internationally famous English musical, whose Italian version will debut on July 7 at the Teatro Romano of Ostia Antica. This is just the last of the events organized by the airport management company to entertain passengers during their visit to the airport, promoting Italian artistic excellence in this natural international showcase.
With this event, Leonardo da Vinci Airport inaugurated the first long weekend of the summer season in the Capital City, in which about 500,000 passengers are expected. The most popular destinations for the Romans are European classics, with Spain and Portugal featuring as firm favourites. Also expected to perform well are the long distance routes - a market that drives development of traffic in Fiumicino and which, according to data from Assaeroporti, in the first 5 months of 2017 experienced an increase of +10.4% - with China and North, South and Central America in the lead.
Aeroporti di Roma, a Company of the Gruppo Atlantia, manages and develops the Rome airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino and conducts other activities connected and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino operates through four passenger terminals. It caters for the business and leisure clientele on national, international and intercontinental routes; Ciampino is used mostly by low cost airlines, by express-couriers and by General Aviation activities. As an airport system, in 2016 ADR recorded more than 47 million passengers with over 230 destinations in the world reachable from Rome, thanks to the almost 150 airline companies operating in the two airports.
