FESTA DELLA MUSICA: TURANDOT AND POP MUSIC IN FIUMICINO TERMINALS
A children's choir singing the most famous pieces from Puccini’s opera, the group Voci italiane performing some of the most famous Neapolitan classics, and Sherol Dos Santos, the latest Italian X Factor wonder, breathed life into the third edition of the Festa della Musica.

A day of music and entertainment today for passengers at Leonardo da Vinci. Aeroporti di Roma, in collaboration with the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and the Europa InCanto Orchestra, has organised a non-stop celebration of performances within the terminals to celebrate the Festa della Musica, an Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities musical initiative held every year on 21 June throughout the country.

At 10:30, in the hall of Terminal 3, 85 children accompanied by a team of 13 musicians from the Europa InCanto Orchestra sang “Nessun dorma” and more of the most celebrated pieces from Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot. The Europa InCanto project was created to spread musical knowledge and passion to teachers and students in middle and high schools, including through the use of Italian sign language (LIS).

In the afternoon, at 14:00, in Pier B in Terminal 1, the Voci italiane group from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia impressed listeners with their concert “Opera, canzone, melodia” (Opera, song, melody), which offered passengers pieces of great operatic tradition alongside Neapolitan classics. The show was part of the “Santa Cecilia al volo” concert series, a four-year partnership project between the Accademia and ADR.

Also at 14:00, in Pier D in Terminal 1, passengers attended a performance by Sherol Dos Santos, an Italian singer originally from Cape Verde. The artist, fresh from her success on Italy's X Factor, the talent show broadcast on Sky, sang her unreleased song written by Manual Agnelli, “Non ti avevo ma ti ho perso” (I didn’t have you but I lost you), along with some contemporary pop songs.

Aeroporti di Roma, an Atlantia Group company, manages and develops the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports in Rome and performs other activities related and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino has two passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2018, the ADR airport system registered 48.8 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. According to Skytrax, in 2017 Fiumicino was the world’s number one airport for improvements and developments to its services. This award adds to the award granted to the airport by the Airports Council International World as the most appreciated airport in Europe amongst hubs with more than 40 million passengers, and to the “Best Airport Award” 2018 given to the Rome airport during the annual assembly of Airports Council International Europe.
