Culture returns to Fiumicino airport with a genuine literary novelty: “Perso a Los Angeles” (Lost in Los Angeles), by Francesco Apolloni. The book has a uniquely interactive characteristic: in fact, its pages contain several QR codes that send users to sounds, images and footage featuring in the story.

Even the presentation revolved around interactivity. The author, alongside Simone Montedoro, a successful TV actor, and Ariadna Romero, an actress and model, created a genuine performance in which they alternated reading and performing passages from the book. Also thanks to the musical accompaniment from Francesca De Fazi, a blues singer, they successfully conveyed the book’s originality to the passengers.

This is not the first time that Boarding Area B in Terminal 1 has become a stage dedicated to artistic exhibitions. Opera singers, musicians, writers and journalists have, over time, chosen Fiumicino airport as the setting to present their work. A real artistic salon, the area is characterised by the permanent presence of a grand piano that guests can play, yet another initiative dedicated by Aeroporti di Roma to its passengers and the quality of the time spent at the airport.

Aeroporti di Roma, an Atlantia Group company, manages and develops the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports in Rome and performs other activities related and complementary to airport management. Fiumicino operates through three passenger terminals. It is dedicated to business and leisure clients on national, international and intercontinental routes. Ciampino is mainly used by low-cost airlines, by express couriers and for General Aviation operations. In 2017, the ADR airport system registered 46.9 million passengers, with over 230 destinations across the world accessible from Rome thanks to around 100 airlines operating in the two airports. According to Skytrax official certification, in 2017 Fiumicino was the world’s number one airport for improvements and developments to its services. This award adds to the award granted to the airport by the Airports Council International as the most appreciated airport in Europe by passengers, and to the “Best Airport Award” 2018 given to the Rome airport during the annual assembly of Airports Council International.
