Short films on current affairs and social issues, as well as unreleased docufilms, are some of the short content made available by Rai Cinema and which, over the course of the year, will characterise the programme schedule of this special movie lounge, which is also equipped for the enjoyment of a selection of content accessible to deaf, blind and visually impaired users: through subtitles, audio descriptions and sign language made available by Rai Cinema, the new movie lounge aims to be an inclusive platform, truly accessible to all users.
In addition to the enjoyment of traditional content, at certain times of the day, users will be able to experience virtual reality thanks to ten state-of-the-art devices.
An ambitious and innovative project that aims to create a cultural centre in an unconventional location and to bring cinema back to the public's attention within a space where cinema has often been the perfect setting to tell its stories.
Paolo Del Brocco, CEO of Rai Cinema, explains:"The agreement with ADR Aeroporti di Roma is part of our initiatives aimed at spreading film culture and bringing an even wider audience to cinema, even in unconventional venues.
With this in mind, we are building a content offering that responds to the paths and meanings of the new metropolises in which these potential viewers move every day.
We believe that this project, aimed at a differentiated audience such as the one frequenting a hub such as Fiumicino's 'Leonardo Da Vinci' airport, can meet the needs of today's viewers who need widespread services and spaces that combine different functions, and it is there that cinema can also play its part.
We are particularly delighted about this partnership with ADR, whose extraordinary commitment to ever-increasing development with a strong focus on innovation and excellence is evident”.
Veronica Pamio, Vice President of ADR External Relations and Sustainability, adds, "The creation of the first cinema inside an Italian airport, and among the first in Europe, represents a great achievement for ADR; an important step in our journey to enhance culture, as well as providing further confirmation of ADR's commitment to combine excellence, social sustainability and innovation for the benefit of passengers, and to ensure that Fiumicino's role as a gateway to Rome is increasingly future-proof.
We are delighted to be able to collaborate on a cultural entertainment project that focuses on inclusivity and innovation, central tenets of our strategy, together with Rai Cinema, a benchmark of excellence throughout Italian film production.
Projects of this kind, with a cultural and social background, are essential for the future of our sector, and we thank ENAC for accompanying our vision with support and attention”.
