Agreement between Aeroporti di Roma and PwC Italia on Open Innovation in the Airport sector
Aeroporti di Roma and PwC Italia have created a partnership for Open Innovation services in the Airport sector. The agreement, which is part of ADR's Sustainability and Innovation strategy, is aimed at enhancing, on the one hand, the skills and capabilities in operations and sales that the ADR Group has developed over the years - certified by the international awards it has received - and, on the other hand, the technical and professional skills of PwC in Italy and of its specialist sector network at an international level.

ADR, Italy's leading airport hub and Europe's best airport in the last three years, has focused on digitalisation, safety, innovation and environmental sustainability with a strategy geared towards an increasingly avant-garde future, exploiting digitalisation and open innovation to offer passengers even greater safety and comfort.

PwC Italia has developed a strong expertise in the field of infrastructure at a global level over the years, engaging 15 partners and over 200 professionals in this sector, able to offer modular and integrated solutions ranging from the management of complex projects, operation and maintenance, new technologies and forensics and construction.

"We are accelerating our transformation process towards a smarter, more reliable and safer airport, in the name of sustainability - said Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma - and the lever of Innovation is a central strategic guideline. It is a road to be travelled by attracting and developing stimuli and ideas from the global ecosystem, in an Open Innovation logic, and by stimulating the contribution of the best national and international partners. But, as we continue to look at the future, we should be aware of the need to further strengthen the great intellectual capital that has long been recognised in ADR. In relation to both objectives, we are confident that working with a player of PwC's calibre, which will offer specialist expertise and access to a large global network, will bear important fruit."

Andrea Toselli, President and Chief Executive Officer of PwC Italia, commented: "We are proud to put our know-how at the disposal of this important project that aims to develop innovation applied to new sustainable mobility models. Start-ups will increasingly evolve along growth guidelines that will lead them to be strategic players. There is no denying the benefit that this ecosystem can bring to the reinvigoration of more traditional realities and the development of the entire economic system. The opportunities exist and we will do what is necessary to make them a reality”.
