FCO ever closer to the East
The airport initiated some time ago a number of initiatives for facilities for Mandarin Chinese-speaking passengers

A website in Chinese, plus a mobile version, with information on services, shopping and tourist attractions; signs in Chinese in the boarding areas of flights to China; acceptance of the Union Pay credit card – widely used in China – by almost all of the shops and services in the non-Schengen area; maps showing where free hot water is available in the airport’s eating places.

These are just some of the services offered by Aeroporti di Roma to Chinese passengers using Rome Fiumicino airport. In fact, the management company initiated some time ago numerous facilities and services to meet the needs of Mandarin Chinese-speaking passengers travelling to and from the Far East.

The most recent airport services introduced include translation of the information on flights displayed on the monitors; the training of airport staff in how to make Asian passengers feel welcome; and signs in Mandarin Chinese in Terminal 3, not to mention instructions in Chinese at the security checks. In addition to services, Italy’s largest airport also provides the opportunity to celebrate some of China’s important holidays, such as the Chinese New Year.
