Newton Rome at Leonardo da Vinci Airport is the result of a collaboration between Aeroporti di Roma, Boeing and the non-profit organisation FIRST Scandinavia and is a multimedia classroom where students from the region can immerse themselves in the world of aviation. This includes route calculations, nautical miles, the use of compass and protractor and even flight simulators.
In the first year, 1,574 students took part in the lessons, confirming the growing interest of young people in scientific disciplines. Newton Rome has hosted 27 schools, offering a unique opportunity to 41 classes from the Fiumicino region — out of a total of 74 — underlining the deep roots of the project and its strong impact on the local community.
The aim remains to inspire and motivate young people to engage more deeply with STEM disciplines, develop essential transversal skills for the future and provide a first tangible insight into highly specialised careers in the aviation sector.
