ADR for the local community

Our commitment to the local area and local communities is an essential element of our mission. Through constant dialogue and active partnerships with local realities, we are committed to promoting the sustainable development of the areas in which we operate. Our initiatives range from protecting the environment to promoting social inclusion, with a special focus on involving schools and the younger generation.
In this way, we contribute to the socio-economic growth of the surrounding communities, enhancing local resources and supporting projects that improve the quality of life and social integration.

PLANTING IN THE ‘TOMMASO FORTI’ PARK IN FIUMICINO
In order to make a concrete contribution to the enhancement of the area in which they operate, Aeroporti di Roma and Lagardère Travel Retail Italia, a company that manages various duty free outlets at Rome's airports, have decided to invest in reforestation, planting and environmental redevelopment. This project is part of a broader path launched in 2021, in which the two companies undertake to progressively replace plastic bags, sold in some outlets managed by Lagardère Travel Retail Italia in the two Rome airports, with paper or reusable bags.
The intervention at the Tommaso Forti Park in Fiumicino, carried out in March 2024, included the planting of tall trees around the perimeter of the park, bordering high traffic roads, creating a green barrier to reduce the presence of particulate matter and noise pollution. Inside the park, on the other hand, the creation of tree islands will help mitigate summer heat extremes thanks to the resulting shaded areas. In addition to the planting of trees, the initiative included targeted restoration work on other areas of the park, such as the garden architecture, the preservation of the site's identity and the creation of renewed usable spaces.
The interventions, together with the installation of ten picnic sets donated by ADR, will improve the enjoyment of the park for the many citizens and children who frequent it on a daily basis.
