Merchandising for sustainability

Aeroporti di Roma has decided to represent the desire for freedom and to return to travel following the pandemic through a monumental work of street art on the external wall of Terminal 1, relying on the contemporary and innovative style of TV BOY.  The artist depicted Leonardo da Vinci and the Mona Lisa in summer dresses, ready to take flight, with trolley and mask at hand.
The work, “A second Renaissance – Flying away from Covid”, represents ADR’s intention to place culture at the centre of an inclusive and sustainable strategy that contributes to making the airport a place with an identity that recalls its own history and ambitions, activating, at the same time, exchange, fusion and energy.

Aeroporti di Roma is also constantly committed to welcoming the demands of the territory and to promoting activities of involvement on the issues of sustainability, environment, enhancement of the historical-cultural context and creation of value for the airports’ neighbouring communities.

This Christmas, ADR has decided to combine the desire for freedom and return to travel, represented by the work of TV BOY, with a focus and commitment to protecting the environment, through the creation and sale of eco-sustainable products, which will support various projects for the area to which they are committed to helping.

The merchandising customised with the artist's work: carbon neutral t-shirt, steel thermal bottle and notebook in recycled paper, will be on sale until 23 December at the ADR/TVBOY stand in the central square of the Tax Free Mall in boarding area E, where it will also be possible to take a selfie with the Leonardo and the Mona Lisa mural.

The main projects, in which we invest resources and enthusiasm every day, include:

  • Biodiversity protection projects including, in the short-medium term, naturalistic engineering interventions to protect coastal dunes and interventions for the protection of pollinating insects and the definition of environmental quality indicators for assessing the results achieved.
  • Initiatives in partnership with local schools, such as the ADR 4 NextGen social media call, dedicated to the themes of sustainability and innovation, included in the All4Climate Italy 2021 calendar, designed and developed with the Councillor the reference institutions with the aim to increase it in 2022.
  • Local coastline reclamation. In 2021, the recovery and redevelopment of the Via del Pesce Luna beach in Fiumicino; was completed; the success of the operation was celebrated through a voluntary cleaning of the beach by employees.
  • Charity initiatives, including donations of lung ventilators and medical supplies to primary hospitals, the Civil Protection and the community, as well as support equipment, including a van for the distribution of meals and portable thermal scanners for measuring body temperature.
