What to do

Protection devices

According to the new COVID-19 infection containment measures provided for by the provisions of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the President of the Lazio Region, it is mandatory, throughout Italy, to always wear respiratory protection devices and to wear them in enclosed places other than private homes, including means of transport, and in all outdoor places.
N.B. Children under the age of six, people with conditions or forms of disability not compatible with the continuous wearing of a mask and those who interact with the aforementioned people are not subject to this obligation.
The technical standards on the aviation sector (APPENDIX 15 of Prime Ministerial Decree dated 13/10/2020) require passengers to wear a surgical mask on the plane and to replace it every 4 hours, if an exception to the interpersonal distance of one metre is permitted. The wearing of a surgical mask on board is intended as a minimum requirement of the protective device. Passengers who do not have one can go to security checks

Further regulations on air transport

As established in the “Guidelines for information to users and organisational methods for containing the diffusion of Covid-19 in the field of public transport - Technical annex on the air transport sector” (Annex 15 of Prime Ministerial Decree DPCM 02/03/2021), the use of masks is mandatory for passengers, and social distancing must be maintained on board aircraft, inside terminals and all other airport facilities.

It is possible, however, to deviate from the distance on board aircraft by implementing a number of requirements such as use of HEPA filters for air purification, vertical flows and air exchange every 3 minutes; screening of passengers' temperature, prohibiting boarding in cases of temperature over 37.5°; replacing surgical masks after 4 hours of use; acquiring self-certification from passengers certifying the absence of contact with Covid-positive people and the commitment to communicate the onset of symptoms to the carrier and the competent health authority within 8 days of disembarkation; boarding of hand luggage of the permitted dimensions, implementing selective boarding and disembarkation measures in order to avoid crowding and reduce handling on board; storing personal clothing in special disposable containers, provided by the carrier at the time of boarding.
