Enel was awarded the public tender to build, with the collaboration of Circet Italia S.p.A., the largest European self-consumption photovoltaic plant in an airport. The plant will make a considerable contribution to the energy efficiency process launched by ADR for the Fiumicino international hub and to the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere equivalent to the planting of around 100 thousand trees a year.

The new initiative is the result of a collaboration between ADR and RTL 102.5, Italy's leading radio station. Connections from Fiumicino airport with RTL 102.5 group radio speakers and the young Aeroporti di Roma communication staff. Next stop, a radio workshop with students from three leading universities that run university radio stations: La Sapienza University of Rome, Luiss Guido Carli University and the University of Teramo, who will compete as radio presenters in the studios located in the new Terminal 1 square.

In fact, thanks to a technology that performs a real 'CT scan', passengers will be able to carry liquids even larger than 100ml in their hand luggage, as well as computers, tablets and mobile phones without having to take them out and separate them from their suitcase. The new technology, introduced last year for frequent travellers, has now been extended to all passengers departing from Terminal 1.

Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), Atlantia, UrbanV, and the pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), Volocopter, have successfully completed the first crewed eVTOL test flights in Italian airspace. These tests were part of a mobility ecosystem setup at Fiumicino’s Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. This is a key milestone toward the envisioned rollout of advanced air mobility (AAM) services in Rome by 2024, with the partners having initiated operations of the first fully functional vertiport in Italy.
