Covid-Tested flights procedures 

 

The travel protocol provided for “Covid-tested” flights (*), valid, unless extended, until 30 October 2021, governs the requirements for entry into Italy from the United States, Canada, Japan and the United Arab Emirates, including for non-essential travel reasons, including tourism and without the need for self-isolation (quarantine) upon arrival in the country.
The restrictions on entry into the United States provided for by the provisions of the American administration remain valid.
 

Covid-Tested” flight procedure 

Departures from the United States/Arrivals at Fiumicino
 

Alitalia flights from New York JFK, American Airlines from New York JFK and United Airlines from New York Newark EWR :

Passengers departing from the USA are required to present, at the time of boarding, a negative molecular test (RT PCR) or rapid antigen (RADT) test result, with tests carried out within 48 hours before the departure of the flight.

Said passengers must also undergo a subsequent mandatory rapid antigen swab test (RADT), performed upon arrival at Fiumicino. The cost of the service upon arrival at Fiumicino, thanks to an agreement signed between Aeroporti di Roma and the Spallanzani Institute, is €20. Payment for tests can be made at the airport by credit card, debit cards or directly by smartphone, using contactless payment applications.
 

Delta Air Lines flights from Atlanta ATL and from New York JFK:

 The testing protocol before departure from the USA requires a PCR test to be performed within 72 hours before departure and an additional test to be carried out directly at the airport, before boarding, in the USA.

Said passengers must also undergo a subsequent mandatory rapid antigen swab test (RADT), performed upon arrival at Fiumicino. The cost of the service upon arrival at Fiumicino, thanks to an agreement signed between Aeroporti di Roma and the Spallanzani Institute, is €20. Payment for tests can be made at the airport by credit card, debit cards or directly by smartphone, using contactless payment applications.

 

In any case, passengers are reminded to check the travel procedure with their airline and to strictly follow the instructions received from the airline itself.

Passengers boarding on Covid-Tested flights are required to fill in, before boarding, a location form in digital format, known as the Digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF). Once the form has been completed and sent, passengers will receive the dPLF in pdf format and the QR code at their email address, which they must exhibit to the airline upon boarding.

The boarding procedure also requires that passengers fill in two copies of the following 
"Self-certification for passengers on Covid-tested flights from the USA." form. 

 

 

Departures from Fiumicino

All passengers departing from Fiumicino on direct flights to the USA are required to present, at the time of boarding, the negative result of a molecular test (RT PCR) or rapid antigen test (RADT) carried out within 72 hours prior to flight departure.

Passengers may decide to undergo the rapid antigen test directly at the testing facility operating at FCO airport. The test area is located at Terminal 3 Arrivals. The service operates from 00:00 to 16:00.

 


Online test booking at FCO

Arrival at Fiumicino
 All passengers arriving at FCO are required to book the swab online:

The rapid swab test is compulsory when disembarking from the aircraft. Children between 0 and 2 years  of age are exempt.
The cost of the service, thanks to an agreement signed between Aeroporti di Roma and the Spallanzani Institute, is €20.
Payment for the tests can be made at the airport by credit card, debit card or directly by smartphone, using contactless payment apps.

Departure from Fiumicino
Passengers who decide to take a test when departing from FCO airport are required to book for a sample to be taken online:

The test area is located in the arrivals hall of Terminal 3. The service is operational from 00:00 to 16:00.
The cost of the service, thanks to an agreement signed between Aeroporti di Roma and Istituto Spallanzani, is €20.
Payment for the tests can be made at the airport by credit card, debit card or directly by smartphone, using contactless payment apps.

It is mandatory for underage passengers to fill in the form on paper format, signed by their parent/legal guardian
(departing passengers - arriving passengers)

However, the option remains open for all passengers who have not had the opportunity to fill out the online form to do so at the entrance to the covid-19 test area.
