Roma Intermodale

Developing the access infrastructures for the "Leonardo da Vinci" Roma - Fiumicino airport is one of Aeroporti di Roma's primary objectives.

The realization of a system that will provide rapid, high quality access to the airport is an absolutely necessary condition for the development of the airport itself.

In order to ensure that this objective is realized, the airport infrastructures must be developed and integrated with the territorial transport network infrastructures, in the wider context of an integrated mobility plan for the entire Rome West quadrant.

Since 2007, Aeroporti di Roma has promoted a technical coordination round table with ANAS , the Municipality of Rome   and RFI , with the aim of drawing up a Feasibility study and a preliminary plan for a multimodal transport system designed to improve accessibility to the Roma - Fiumicino airport.
The study, which was recognized as worthy of funding by the EU Agency of the TEN-T Networks, was completed in 2011; the processes of sharing with the stakeholders involved are currently about to be initiated to proceed with the subsequent phases of the project and begin the process of urban - environmental approval.
