Aeroporti di Roma celebrates World Passenger's Day
At Rome Fiumicino Airport, art takes centre stage in the travel experience

Fiumicino, 17 November 2025 – Once again this year, Aeroporti di Roma is taking part in World Passenger's Day, promoted by Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur (a Mundys Group company), confirming its commitment to providing increasingly attentive, innovative service focused on the travel experience of every customer. Globally recognised quality: for the 8th year running, Rome Fiumicino ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ Airport has been awarded by ACI World as best airport in Europe for the quality of services offered to travellers.

To celebrate the occasion, Rome Fiumicino Airport will host the installation Un ritratto di chiunque a Roma (A Portrait of Anyone in Rome) by conceptual artist Daniele Sigalot, who is also the creator of the sculpture Master of Mistakes, on display in Terminal 1. The work – a large map of Rome engraved on polished steel – will serve as the backdrop for a photo shoot open to all those transiting through the airport throughout the day.

Passengers can have their photo taken reflected in the artwork and receive a digitally processed image of themselves transformed by the city's topography. The initiative is designed to offer them a symbolic experience linked to the local identity, so that, at the time of departure, they can take with them - and share on their social media profiles - their own little piece of Rome.

Once again this year, Aeroporti di Roma is joining World Passenger's Day, confirming its commitment to infusing the airport experience with art and culture, which, in this context, also become valuable tools for building relationships, identity and connections with the local area,’ said Giovanna De Cesare, Head of Corporate Communications, Brand Identity, Partnerships, Events & CSR at Aeroporti di Roma. ‘This work by Daniele Sigalot, with whom we continue to strengthen our collaboration, embodies this approach very effectively: in addition to enriching our airport terminals, it invites every passenger to experience their journey as a personal, transformative and – in this case, quite literally – reflective moment.

Un ritratto di chiunque a Roma originates from a simple idea: it is not only people who change cities, cities also change people. Bringing this work to Rome Fiumicino Airport means placing passengers exactly where this reciprocal exchange can take shape,’ stated Daniele Sigalot, creator of the work. ‘Standing in front of the map of Rome engraved on polished steel, their faces are reflected in it and, at the same time, transformed. The result is not a traditional portrait, but an image altered by the urban topography: a visual fragment in which facial features merge with streets and buildings. For me, that is precisely when the work truly comes to life.’

Launched in 2023 by Nice Côte d'Azur Airport – also part of the Mundys group – World Passenger's Day today engages 28 international airports. Its aim is to promote a shared vision of air mobility based on hospitality, proximity and valuing passengers as the true protagonists of the travel experience, through initiatives designed to transform airport transit into a moment to remember.
