Route Development

The main target of the Route Development Team is to stimulate and develop the growth of air traffic volume at Rome airport system by favouring and encouraging the start-up of new short, medium and long haul flights and the boosting capacity offered where rising demand for routes already served has been registered.

The Route Development Team  is part of the "Aviation Commercial Department", and its main target is to stimulate and develop the growth of air traffic volume at Rome airport system by favouring and encouraging the start-up of new short, medium and long haul flights and the boosting capacity offered where rising demand for routes already served has been registered.

In fact, during the year 2012, about 3.3 million passengers reached their final destinations through other European hubs, due to lack of direct flights (Source: IATA Airport IS). This phenomenon – so called "traffic leakages" is KPI indicating number of passengers - having their origin and/or destination within the catchment area served by Fiumicino apt - that used other European airport as gateways to reach their final destination.

The mission of the Route Development Team is to recover traffic leakages promoting a better connectivity and a wider network of destinations directly linked with Rome airport system.
In order to achieve this target, the Route Development Team supports all Carriers already operating on airports managed by ADR, or interested in Rome as a new destination. Aeroporti di Roma offers to air carriers a constant support through all the phases coming before and after the launch of new routes: from feasibility studies to start-up, followed by a constant route performance monitoring

KNOW HOW AT YOUR SERVICE

The Route Development Team is able to provide up-to-date key market figures to all Airlines interested in this data helps in understanding market sizes and their future potential. Furthermore, the huge ADR database is an important source of information, and it's continuously updated thanks to survey carried out in different airport areas.
As main source of potential market figures, the Route Development Team runs AirportIS, a software developed and certified by IATA. This is a data center where all worldwide BSP data (Billing & Settlement Plan) are included, besides MIDT data collected through 30 CRS of the world. In addition to that, figures are further "calibrated" by collecting statistics from the main on-line travel agencies and from the largest database belonging to civil aviation worldwide organization.
