Photovoltaic power

The Long Term-Economy Car Park has been equipped with solar panels, thanks to a collaboration with ACEA.

The area (about 25,000 sq m) now is equipped with 8,750 Suntech high efficiency photovoltaic panels in polycrystalline silicon, each of which has a peak power output of 210 Wp.

The existing photovoltaic plant produces about 2,210 MWh of clean electricity per year, with a reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the atmosphere equal to about 1,200 tons a year.

The plant is equipped with switchboards that measure climate and environmental variables and a next-generation LED lighting system, in addition to the pre-existing lampposts.

The project is in line with the national and European objectives of reducing air pollution and developing power generation systems that exploit renewable energy sources (Kyoto Protocol).
