Passenger traffic in Rome airport system continued to grow (+3.4% versus Q1 2010), partially offset by the decreased number of movements (-0.4%). ADR communicates that today at the meeting of the Baggage Commitee , at which unfortunately both the airline companies and the handling decided not to participate, announced the new ways that will be adopted to carry out the baggage-in-transit handling service from 00.01 on January 1st 2012. The serrvice although no longer using the NET 6000 platform, due to the non-payment of the relative fees by the carriers in particular Alitalia, will anyway be guaranteed. Aeroporti di Roma makes it known that, as of 00.01 hours on January 1st, 2012, it will be forced to stop operation of the handling system for luggage in transit, known as NET 6000 and inaugurated in July 2010, with an investment of 21ml Euro. Aeroporti di Roma informs that the old baggage handling system will be reactivated.

Fiumicino airport hit highest traffic record ever. On Sunday, 1 August, the Rome intercontinental airport recorded as many as 137,973 arriving and departing passengers This is really a historical record. The previous record was reported on 17 August 2008 with 135,417 passengers. Also the Rome airport system hit a new record.

The Board of Directors of Aeroporti di Roma S.p.A., chaired by Fabrizio Palenzona, approved today ADR Group Q1 Report at 31 March 2010. Rome Fiumicino airport showed some clear signs of a strong upturn in air traffic during the month of January. The Rome intercontinental airport confirmed the trend of the Festive season (from 21 January 2009 to 10 January 2010 a total of 1,771,768 passengers travelled through Rome Leonardo da Vinci airport, with a 14.3% increase versus the same period of last year), rising 13.4% (2,297,141 passengers) at the end of January 2010 versus the same month last year.
